FAQ’s

  • New members
If you’ve thought about playing the ukulele and would like to come along to one of our meetings then please do.
The calendar on the website should be up-to-date and there will always be someone to answer your questions if you join our Facebook group.

    • Songbooks
Our songbooks are available on this website The Songbook
      Or
From Dropbox (send an email to nick@norwich-ukulele-society.co.uk to request access)
    • Not got a ukulele yet?
If you don’t yet own a ukulele but would still like to give it a go, let us know beforehand either by email or on Facebook and someone will be able to bring along a spare.
    • Songs for beginners
      Here are some songs in our songbook that only have 3 chords;

      • Cecilia
      • Common People
      • Hotel Yorba
      • Rave On
      • Rudy/Tide Is High
      • Things
      • What Makes You Beautiful
      • Last Train To Clarkesville
  • Membership
As of January 2022 an annual membership fee has been introduced.
This is currently £20 for the year and is to cover known annual costs such as Public Liability Insurance and Property Insurance for the Norwich Ukulele Society Kit.

    • New members are welcome to attend a couple of Sunday evening sessions without having to pay any fee.
    • Any non-members who wish to attend Sunday evening sessions we would request a £2 payment on the evening.
  • New song suggestions
Everyone is encouraged to suggest new songs to be added to the songbook.
In the past this might have seemed a bit ad-hoc and you might have wondered where your song suggestion ended up, so hopefully this will make things a bit easier.
    When you’ve come across a song you’d like to play;

    • Find a version of it online.
(It doesn’t necessarily have to be written for Ukulele. As long as it has the chords and the words)
    • Try playing it and see if you still like it.
    • Send the website link to nick@norwich-ukulele-society.co.uk
    • Then, the song will be made available through the website and Dropbox and we’ll let everyone know that it will be played at the next meeting
    • If it sounds good then it will get added to the songbook, if not, then at least you’ll know it was tried.
  • Gigs
We have played at Weddings, Birthdays and other events.
We like a beer festival, and also play in pubs in Norwich. We also play some charity events.
If you’d like to book us then please contact us via email or on Facebook.
To NUS members, if you have a suggestion for a gig that we can play at, then let the committee know via email or when you’re next at a meeting.
  • Leading
Anyone can lead an NUS meeting, Gig or Busk.
If you’d like to lead any of the above then let a member of the committee know and we can set a date.
  • Contacts
The easiest way to get in contact is via email or through the Facebook group.

  • You can also be added to our mailing list if you don’t have a Facebook account and you’ll receive the important messages about gigs, busks, meetings, etc. Just send an email to the above address and request to be added to the list.
